Photos: Surfing Santas take over Cocoa Beach, Florida
In 2009 George Trosset, joined by his son and wife, dressed up as Santas on Christmas Eve to surf the waves at Cocoa Beach in Florida. "The next year about 20 of us showed up and it really was just a fun day and something to do on Christmas Eve," explains Danny Cruden who dressed up as a Nutcracker yesterday to enjoy the Atlantic at the famous East Coast surfing spot. "It's the first time we've had a Nutcracker out here."
In it's eighth year, the "Surfing Santas" holiday event attracted over 800 costumed surfers along with thousands of spectators crowding the beach for a very Florida Christmas party. Last year they had twenty skydiving Santas. This year, pro surfers Corey Howell and Nathan Adams jumped out of a helicopter. "Its the only event that you can go to with thousands of people and everyone has a smile on their face," says Cruden, who hails from the North Pole and stays with family in nearby Vero Beach during the holidays.
