Photos: Town Hall with Sen. Lindsey Graham
"No. No. Don't give him the microphone. No. No. No," pleaded one of Sen. Lindsey Graham's staffers from the side of the stage yesterday as the lawmaker attempted to wrap up a town hall meeting in Clemson, SC. The "him" the staffer referred to was a man in a baseball cap and maroon sweatshirt standing in the center of the front row. He had been heckling the senator and Graham had threatened to have the him kicked out earlier after multiple vocal outbursts. His go-to attack was, "HE'S A TRAITOR!"
It was kinda tense but there seemed to a be a comical element to it. Maybe I'm just immature though, but I think Sen. Graham, although annoyed, found some humor in the moment. I appreciate his sense of humor.
So what did the guy ask? I don't even remember. He lost me after thanking the senator for simply showing up followed by some pretext for his inquiry. What I do remember was that much of the 900 person crowd yesterday had the biggest gripes with Graham's vote on Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and Donald Trump in his position of "leader of the free world."
When he addressed the outcome of the general election he told the crowd, ""I didn't vote for Trump either. I voted for Evan McMullen."
