"Feels like 100" - Photos: Charleston Summer Shindig
Outside of a recent trip to the Apple store — because even though Augusta has one, Columbia doesn’t — yesterday was my first voyage to Charleston in two years where I wasn’t on assignment for a presidential campaign, something related to Donald Trump, a natural disaster, or a horrific mass murder in a church. No 5 a.m. alarms, Muslim bans, secret service dogs, IPTC data, or deadlines fulfilled at Waffle House.
The fourth annual event, originally launched by Hearts and Plugs Records, featured 12 bands primarily on two outdoor stages. Nearing the end of the Artisanals’ set it rained cats and dogs, power was cut on the stages and Zack Mexico performed a percussion only set and the Futurebirds moved their set inside. Ben Bridwell was in attendance.
