Photos - Famously Hot Music Festival - Day One - Columbia SC
August 24, 2012 - Columbia, South Carolina
As I walked across the perpetually soaked concert lawn of Finlay Park yesterday before doors opened at Columbia's Famously Hot Music Festival, I couldn't help but think of ghosts of the past. I hadn't shot an event there since "Punk in the Park" with Stretch Arm Strong and Burns Out Bright. When I was a freshman at USC I regularly rode my bmx bike around the park listening to cassette tapes that I had dubbed from Compact Disc. I had Goldfinger's "Hang-Ups" and Bad Religion's "Stranger Than Fiction" and I bent too many rims rocking out with those guys. Something was different about today though - it was late August and only 84 degrees. Far removed from that damn 113 degree day in June.
I invite you to join me on my journey through the 2012 Famously Hot Musc Festival. I'll update my photoblog after each day so please do come back. Here's day one featuring Minnesota, Archnemesis, Eliot Lipp, Savoy and EOTO and the modern hippies of the electronic dance music scene.
