I Love Spanish Moss - Beaufort, SC
Over fifteen years ago I looked out over the scene above as Hurricane Floyd tossed the sailboats around like little toys in a child's bathtub. I sat on the front steps of a gorgeous home on Bay St. in Beaufort, SC drinking a Corona, eating buffalo and playing fetch with two Labradors. My friend from the college newspaper, Brock was interviewing a young man who was watching the home of an uncle after they evacuated the coast because of the storm. He was the only human we could find to interview that day.
We spent that night eating crackers by candlelight on the floor of the Beaufort Gazette as the storm struck the coast. Last week I returned to the area to photograph a story for Discover Magazine and snuck out early to shoot the pink building above for a possible client. I shot another building as well for the same reason, but I was real ugly in that light. I love Spanish moss. Beaufort, SC.
