West Columbia Apartment Fire Claims One LifeWe could hear the firetrucks screaming past New Brookland Tavern in West Columbia about 30 minutes before doors were to open on Thursday night for the Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band show. Minutes later, NBT house engineer Magic John told me he was going to check out what appeared to be a large fire down on State St. With a half an hour to spare, I grabbed my gear and told a door guy to watch the bar and bolted out the back door.
I'd have more photos but an employee and resident of the apartment building threatened me, and then alerted the police that "this guy needs to go" while I was on the public sidewalk. Not desiring a confrontation, I retreated to the sidewalk on the other side of the road where a rather large crowd of onlookers had gathered. There was one fatality reported at the Granby Oaks apartment fire that also damaged eight units.
On that note, here's a photo of my buddy (and fellow mountain climber) Matt living it up in Straw-ber-ritaville later that evening. Check out some photos of Matt playing guitar with his band Burnt Books.

This article provides a depth of understanding that I don’t often find in online content. You explained everything with great clarity and supported your points with solid reasoning. What stood out to me the most was how relatable the examples were; they made the message much easier to connect with. I also appreciate the friendly tone—it feels like getting advice from someone experienced rather than reading something overly formal. Truly great work. I’ll be checking out more of your content for sure.
