DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR!

I was next in line to take a look at the moon through the 1926 Alvan Clark 12 3/8-inch refracting telescope at the SC State Museum last night when the fire alarm went off. During the past six months I've spent several days documenting the museum's monstrous renovation project featuring the observatory, a planetarium and a 4D theater. When I photographed the installation of the telescope - which took several hours - I watched as they put a piece on backwards and then had to tear it down and repeat. So, I was pretty enthusiastic about finally being able to look at the moon through the antique technology. And then the fire alarm went off just as I was about to climb the ladder. I guess it wasn't meant to be. And I missed the Pink Floyd laser show. Photographs from the Bark at the Moon party at the museum and in Five Points last night. Happy Holidays.
