The last time I took a photograph of Grayson Venters of Small Sanctions, he was making funny faces floating down the Congaree River back in September. If I remember correctly, it was the last day warm enough for the summer tradition and it was just a few weeks before they released their first EP, Feather Habits. I was sitting on a picnic table eating grapes and he just cruised on by out of the blue. One of those Columbia isn't all that big moments. "I'm pretty sure a rock went up my ass," says Venters about the ordeal. Go check out their Faybo page, they are one of Columbia's best new bands.

The last time I took a photo of John Fowler from Small Sanctions he was about to eat a corn dog at the South Carolina State Fair.
