This time next year, there will probably be a supermarket here at Capital City Stadium on a site where residents of Columbia have enjoyed baseball since 1927. In last night's Independence holiday celebration on the edge of Olympia - the Blowfish squared off against Gamecock alumni with the outcome replicating the mascot race to home plate. It's gonna be weird not having fireworks down there anymore. But don't fret, they'll be shooting off more fireworks tonight and tomorrow (July 4-5).

The Gamecock team included former USC and New York Giant linebacker Corey Miller and current baseball coach Chad Holbrook who fell down on his way to first base during the game.
