"I thought it would be a freakshow out here," says Lisa Joy on Saturday afternoon at the Jamil Temple. "But it's not - it's families." Lisa has been working a marketing table at the reptile convention that travels to 50 or so cities in the southeast where you can get up and close with monsters like a tiger salamander at feeding time (below) and talk with vendors and fans about all sorts of creatures. It's kind of like a zoo but you can take the animals home.
