At times on Saturday night, a miniature waterfall developed over the back exit at New Brookland Tavern in West Columbia. Cigarette smokers formed a gauntlet in the tiny back hallway - as the sometimes misleading barrier of water prevented many adventurers from testing the conditions outside. Despite the uplifting South Carolina weather, the local loud rock scene kicked off the new year with Burnt Books and Abacus sandwiching some friends from Richmond and Savannah.
