Driver crashes through trailer home, over car and on top of boat

It's a little over two hours to Newton, North Carolina and the historic Hickory Motor Speedway. As I walk through the rows of parked cars and approach “The World's Most Famous Short Track” I hear families complaining that the 13,200 capacity raceway has sold out. I pass through the track entrance and the experience reminds me of the first time I walked out on the field at William's Brice Stadium - but with more of a gladiator atmosphere - the crowd melting into one mass of flesh.

I climb up a rickety metal ladder to the box roof where one dude is smoking menthol cigarettes in a lawn chair. A car drives around the oval and through turn four - into a 75 foot long trailer - over a car and on top of a boat. The two slide across the pavement - eventually coming to stop on. The driver, Raybo exits the car and the mass of flesh erupts in approval.

It was awesome – and only the beginning. There was still a school bus race, a boat and camper trailer race, a flagpole race, a reverse demolition and more to come. You can find more information about the demolition derby series on the Knights of Destruction homepage.
