Back when Susto's Justin Osborne fronted Charleston's Sequoyah Prep School I used to tend bar at New Brookland Tavern where the band regularly appeared on the West Columbia stage. As a bartender, seeing your name on the schedule for a Sequoyah show typically meant you had to deal with a club full of primarily females not old enough to drink. There'd be 200+ people in the building and not a single person sitting at the bar. You'd spend the majority of your time slinging water and Red Bull and avoiding thinking about how you weren't paying any bills that evening - unless the guys from the Whig came by after work. You'd be drawing the short straw that week.
About five or six years ago I encountered a scenario where I acquired several hundred cheddar cheese cubes and I brought them to the bar to snack on and share with my coworkers. I left one of the bags out one night and when Sequoyah played the next day I spent the set disposing the cheddar into the crowd.
So, basically, I'm finally apologizing to any of 50-100 people that I may have hit with cheese that night. Sorry.
Today, Justin's latest musical endeavor, Susto, releases a music video for their new song "Chillin' On The Beach with My Best Friend Jesus Christ." Yesterday, they performed at the Five Points After Five concert series and once again I forgot to tell Justin that story. Instead we shared stories about the Carolina Cup, sunburn and ending up on a couch in Bishopville.
