If you attended the second day of Hoechella on Saturday at New Brookland in West Columbia you'll probably remember it as that time the power went off during Can't Kids' set and the magic of the people brought the lights back on. And you'll probably remember it as that weekend that you were covered in glitter - whether you wanted to be or not.

“The power shut off everybody got bummed," recalls organizer Kari Lebby, "but Can’t Kids kept playing the song and the audience sang along. And then they started another song with drums and cello with Adam and Hank singing along with the entire room. We were gonna call the show and have people leave and then literally as people started leaving the power came back and people came back and everybody got unbelievably wild. They got real crazy and were like, I guess I gotta get really drunk now.”

Hoechella was a two day music festival, August 26 and 27 promoting diversity in the music scene, reaching out to women, folks who identify as queer and people of color. The event was able to raise over $3400 for Girls Rock Columbia and Girls Rock Charleston.
