Regulators Throttled by Greensboro Roller Derby

It was a pretty close match at the Columbia Armory on Saturday evening between the Richland County Regulators and Greensboro Roller Derby. And then the second half happened. Final score: 276-82

"We kept leaving openings on the inside line which their jammers took full advantage of. Also, they would leave their two biggest players in the back to contain our jammers while the other two made holes up front. It was very smart derby. They were big, hard hitting girls," explained Regulator Full Metal Jackie (below) - who made a switch from blocker to jammer on Saturday night, "A blocker's job is to hold back, knock down and out of bounds, and generally stop the jammer from passing you. The jammer wants to lap players on the opposing team for points. Each player they lap, they get one point."

"Everything we've been working on all year really seemed to click. We kept our heads calm, kept our focus on the track and really were able to work as a solid unit. We also were able to minimize our jammer penalties in the second half to maximize our scoring opportunities."
