Thank You Labor Day Thunderstorm

As the last thunderstorm of summer loomed over the bottom end of the Saluda River yesterday, the humans adventuring down the river carried on with a growing sense of urgency. My friends and I retreated to a rock outcropping close enough to the shore for a quick escape. The clouds had cooled the blistering heat of the day and like everyone else - it was going to take a nasty downpour to chase us away. As the thunder boomed louder it became harder to hear the drunk redneck downstream - who was shouting at tubers about a fictitious fifteen foot waterfall. Eventually the heavens opened up and we were forced off the river. We all got soaked. Thank you Labor Day thunderstorm, it was fun.
