Spaghetti Taco dumped for Joe Biden Special - Can't Kids Album Release
Last week Can't Kids introduced a new item to the Beezer's menu, a staple in most young Soda Citizens' diets. The "Joe Biden Special" celebrated the Vee Pee's visit to the capital city for USC graduation ceremonies and featured turkey, sprouts, mayo, mustard and glitter and it's presentation was inspired by the band's new record Ennui Go (Listen HERE). "You can trace the origins [of the sandwich] to the Spaghetti Taco and the dawn of Shredquarters," explains the band, "But Beezer's didn't think that sounded appetizing, and renamed it." The band recommends pairing the sandwich (SEE HERE) with a rum and Tab or a milk and sweet tea cocktail.
It was a special Saturday night in the Soda City as Can't Kid's welcomed a slew of local musicians and friends to help celebrate the band's sophomore release. "It's way more fun to play when you're joined by other awesome bands, good friends, and wacky sideshows. Things just came together really well. We're really lucky to have that kind of a collective mentality in Columbia," explained drummer Jess Oliver. "Columbia does a really good job of supporting local music. Other towns aren't always like that. I feel like people go out with the explicit purpose of seeing a show in that town, and a lot of other places people are going out just to be out at a bar or something. Not that that's always bad, but it creates this mindset where people try to avoid places that have a cover charge and this avoid seeing the bands. I'm all about free shows, but it's really nice to be able to put out records and tour, and you can't do that on our personal salaries."
Earlier in the evening, Aaron Graves and Those Lavender Whales stole everyone's hearts for about 30 minutes and then returned them in better condition than taken. Then he hugged everyone in the pit with giant Hamburger Helper hands during the last song of the set.
