A death knell for the confederate flag - Columbia, SC - June 27, 2015

June 27, 2015 • 1637 Comments

Only a few hours after Bree Newsome climbed up a pole and removed the confederate flag on the South Carolina Statehouse grounds, flag supporters gathered at the capital in Columbia in a gasping effort to hold onto the divisive symbol of Southern culture. The flag in question, had been quickly returned to it's perch by grounds workers in the early morning hours. "I thought there'd be more people out here. At least three to four hundred," said one of the fifty or so supporters from atop the statehouse steps.

Despite many claims of "heritage - not hate," remarks about welfare and crime statistics might have led one to believe otherwise.
